Who We AreWarren Church:
Warren Church is located on Capitol Hill in Denver, Colorado, USA. We gather for worship and celebration in our sanctuary on Sundays. Our 9 a.m. service is an informal, mostly traditional service with organ and choir. We have a warm greeting time with handshake or hug (your choice), and often join hands for the Lord's Prayer (again, your choice). What About ParkingIf you've driven around our building you will notice that parking is somewhat at a premium. You can park on 14th Avenue on the south side or Gilpin (though there are usually few places available). Otherwise, off-street parking is available on Sunday mornings on the top level of the Warren Village parking structure next door (south) to the church. Enter lot through the alley between Franklin and Gilpin. Our CommitmentsIn addition to those 4 core values named above, we are a church with an active social concerns ministry. We are a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network and celebrate our anniversary of this decision around the third Sunday of November. While our denomination's Judicial Council ruled that a pastor could bar "unrepentant practicing homosexuals" from membership, we believe strongly with our denomination's bishops that gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender folks--actually, ALL people--who seek to know God are welcome to join our community of faith! Come be a part of sharing God's grace! During the 50s and 60s, we laid plans for and built Warren Village, an agency that helps single parents get a fresh start in life. Read more of our history. We participate in the Capitol Hill United Ministries cooperative ministry, including the Coupon program, which has raised over $400,000 for Capitol Hill human service agencies.
We have many activities and projects, including a parish nurse program, a nurturing ministry for our elderly members and others, intergenerational dinners which help understanding and reconciliation between generations, and an adult forum that explores many different issues in living the faith.
We participate in community events like the AIDS walk, MLK Marade and Pride celebration. Off-street parking is available on Sunday mornings on the top level of the Warren Village parking structure next door to the church. Enter lot through the alley between Franklin and Gilpin. Warren Church is a welcoming church. It is a church working to be a place of hospitality for all in Denver's inner city. Here is our Mission Statement. We have Bible study, fellowship dinners, potlucks -- and picnics in nearby Cheesman Park.
In short, we seek to hold our little candle up and light our part of the world with God's grace.
We are a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network.
We are one of 16 member churches of Capitol Hill United Ministries. Read about the Coupon Program here.. For further information please write: Warren United Methodist Church |
